This ad focuses on covergirl's message of their 50 year anniversary, and it's a brand that appeals to younger and older women. The main message of this ad is to sell the Covergirl brand as an estabished brand that has products for all ages. I think this ad could be more effective if it featured 2 women from different generations, instead of only featuring one from a younger generation. Taylor Swift mostly just appeals to pre-teens and teenagers and Covergirl could reach a broader audience by featuring a middle-aged woman as well.
