Entry 45: Nook Commercial

I really love this commercial because it's very relatable. This commercial shows a girl growing up reading and growing into an adult reader that is so because of how reading has been there for her throughout every stage of her life. I think Barnes and Noble did a really good job with this Nook commercial by showing this evolution because of the future of where reading is going and showing that with the Nook. They're saying they'll be there for the transition the way books are there for someone throughout their life.

Entry 44: Mustang Father and Son Commercial

I remembered this commercial from a few years ago, so it definitely stuck with me. I love that this commercial totally embraces the desire for a teenage boy to drive a car like a Mustang, and sharing the experience with his father. I think this commercial uses emotion to show a really great father/son relationship and associating that relationship with the Mustang brand really helps them to establish themselves as more than a sports car brand, and more of a family brand.

Entry 43: Old Navy Dress Commercial

I feel like with this ad, I should find it completely cheesy, but I actually really love it in a guilty pleasure type of way. This ad is obviously appealing only to women, but does so in a very endearing way. I found myself singing this song after I saw this commercial and wanting to see it again. I really like that it features many different Old Navy dresses and shows that these dresses are versatile enough to wear in every day life and not just special occasions.

Entry 42: Michael Buble Starbucks Commercial

I think this commercial is very funny and very endearing. I like the theme that Starbucks is using here that drinking their drinks allows for an escape from reality such as Michael Buble appearing and serenading you. I think the Michael Buble song they used is perfect to give the consumers the idea of Starbucks giving them an escape from their everyday lives.

Entry 41: Mayhem Allstate Commercial

I start laughing every time I watch this commercial. I think Allstate really relates to its audience by showing accidents that consumers could easily see happening to them and needing an insurance who's going to cover them when they do happen. This actor is great, and really epitomizes what it feels like when someone gets in an accident that wasn't there fault. Or even if the accident was their fault, giving them certain circumstances where the accident is nearly unavoidable. The only problem I have with this ad is that it doesn't focus on the Allstate name, so consumers may know that this is an ad for an insurance company, but unsure of which insurance company.

Entry 40: Jim and Pam wedding NBC commercial

Any Office fan is going to completely fall for the line of promos that NBC did to promote the Office Wedding of Jim and Pam. They succeeded in these ads by replaying the best and worse times of Jim and Pam and really making their viewers feel like they've been through the relationship with Jim and Pam and this involves them too. NBC also showed viewers that this episode is Jim and Pam finally getting their happy ending and really promoted it as an Office event, rather than just an episode.

Entry 39: Zales "OMG" Commercial

I love this ad because it completely embraces the idea of men give diamonds to women to buy their affections. I love that it just completely owns up to this instead of trying to hide behind the idea that the material items have to do with their love for their spouse. The Black Keys song playing in the background works perfectly to make Zales stand out from the stereotypical romantic jewelry commercial.

Entry 38: Tommy Hilfiger Holiday Commercial

I love this ad. My favorite thing about this that it's making fun of the upper class theme of Tommy Hilfiger and embracing it and really showing a much more down to earth side to them, rather than the expensive ritzy theme they're known for. I think the Vampire Weekend song playing in the background works perfectly with the theme of the commercial. I think the ending has a bit of a shock factor and successfully brings Tommy Hilfiger down from its pedestal.

Entry 37: Bethenny Frankel Bluefly Commercial

I really love this ad because I'm such a huge Bethenny Frankel ad and I feel like this ad involves a lot of her personality to sell the Bluefly brand. I like that this ad brings a social icon down to take apart her closet and show that she shops the way the average consumer shops, and uses Bluefly to do it.

Entry 36: Virgin Mobile Stalker Ad

I like this commercial because it's really funny and gives a lot of details about the product. I like that it shows that when someone's in a situation where they have time to kill, their smartphone will be of help. I think this ad was effective, because I've even heard some of my friends talking about this ad and asking their friends if they've seen it.

Entry 35: Hulu Alien Ad

I think this commercial is hilarious. Alec Baldwin's sarcasm about TV ruining our lives is genius. I love that this ad completely "trashes" Hulu, and even states that they're "evil," while still selling the brand by saying they deliver free TV via the internet. The fact that they got a celebrity to endorse a product so controversial to big name corporations, gives them much more esteem with those looking for TV online.

Entry 34: Expedia Pauley Perrete Commercial

I really like this ad, because I feel like while it does incorporate the character that Pauley Perrette plays on NCIS, Abby, while still selling Expedia's benefits. I like this ad because I'm a big Pauley Perrette fan and I think she's a perfect fit for this ad, but one that is also unexpected. I think this ad would appeal to those especially who watch NCIS, but also those that do not.

Entry 33: Glee Chevy Commercial

I like this commercial, but mostly because I'm a big Glee/musical fan. I think it was done well and definitely sold the American image of Chevrolet and featured the product throughout the whole ad. I feel like this ad would not appeal to those who are annoyed by Glee or musicals, and therefore make them have a worse image of the Chevy brand. I think making this ad is appealing to a very specific audience, and those not interested in Glee, wouldn't be interested in this ad either.

Entry 32: Amazon Kindle Commercial

I absolutely love this ad, because as an avid reader, I completely understand the feeling of reading and feeling like you're being transported into another world. I think this ad really shows Amazon's main message with the Kindle to let their readers become really immersed in what they're reading and to forget that it's an e-reader. I like that this commercial is so short and doesn't just list off a bunch of features about the Kindle, but rather sells the whole brand of the Kindle and what type of readers buy the kindle.

Entry 31: Cici's Line Jump commercial

I really like the Cici's line jump commercial because I felt as though it was very memorable and I normally don't remember ads for Food chains. I think this commercial gives a very real situation that most people think about while eating at CiCi's. I love the actor in this ad and also the actor that plays the elderly woman.  I think this ad really made me remember CiCi's because they are the main place you think of when you think of having a buffet line and this commercial was so memorable for its humor.

Entry 30: Think Different Apple Ad

I love this ad and feel like this campaign was completely essential for the established brand that Apple has today. I love that here Apple isn't giving specifics, or putting down other companies, but telling the morals of their own company. Apple here appeals to all people who have ever felt like they didn't fit into the crowd or what's common for the time. Apple is comparing PCs to being what's common, the mainstream crowd, the ones that don't "think different." This ad associates the Apple brand with being inspired, and separating yourself from the crowd, and that this can be accomplished through buying Apple brands because they understand this mentality.

Entry 29: The Most Interesting Man in the World, Dos Equis

I love this campaign for Dos Equis because I feel like it really goes outside of the comfort zone for most beer commercials. This ad features minimum women and focuses on one man and his endeavors. I specifically like this newer commercial, because I think as the commercials have progressed the lines about the most interesting man in the world have gotten more clever. This commercial isn't as much about selling the product, as it is selling the brand to consumers. Dos Equis if giving consumers someone to aspire to be, which can be accomplished by drinking Dos Equis.

Entry 28: Juicy Couture Perfume Commercial

I really like this ad because I'm a huge Juicy Couture fan and from the beginning of the commercial, I knew it was a Juicy couture commercial because it was so true to style for them. I think the message of this ad is that their customers can live in the outlandish fantasy world when they want to, but their brand also transgresses into a customer's everyday life.

Entry 27: State Farm Dark Side Commercial

I like this commercial because it uses humor but also a successful jingle to sell State Farm Insurance. Unlike with most commercials, I know that these ads are for State Farm, and not just for some type of car insurance. I also like the main message of this ad, that State Farm will be there, without having stress after a car accident.

Entry 26: Twix Commercial

I really like these series of commercials because they're so hilarious. I like that the jokes made in each of these commercials are realistic jokes that someone would make in the given scenarios. These series of commercials give relatable situations when someone's stuck their foot in their mouth. While the actual product isn't featured very much in the commercial, these commercials are so funny, most people would stop to watch these commercials and see the product anyway.

Entry 25: Alice Cooper Staples Commercial

I like this commercial because it uses the rock icon of Alice Cooper cleverly, and still sells the product of Staples school supplies. Everyone's familiar with the "School's out for summer" song, and it is very amusing seeing the relationship between Alice Cooper and the little girl, which creates almost a parent like relationship. This is very out of character for Alice Cooper and therefore strengthens the humor in the commercial.

Entry 24: Twitter Commercial

I really like this twitter commercial because I feel like they effectively make twitter more of just a social networking cite. This commercial portrays the idea that that Twitter is part of someone's everyday life. This shows twitter be a part of helping someone plan just about anything, with asking input from followers. I also like that this commercial uses the familiar twitter bird logo throughout the commercial, to remind the consumer of what the commercial is for.

Entry 23: Liquid socks Hanes commercial

I love this commercial. Every time it comes on, I stop what I'm doing to watch it. I really like this commercial because I think it uses humor in a really witty way, while still selling the Hanes socks. I think the biggest strength in this commercial is that it's hilarious and it appeals to all, not just a specific market.

Entry 22: If you don't have an iPhone commercial

Apple's newest campaign for the iPhone is the "if you don't have an iPhone campaign." This campaign isolates those who do not own iPhones by telling them everything they're missing out on by not owning an iPhone. I feel like this slogan is successful in most ways, but also slightly condescending. I think this ad successfully shows the benefit of the iPhone, but those without iPhones may just feel annoyed by the arrogant tone of the commercial.

Entry 21: Tmobile video chat

I really like this commercial because it really focuses on a a legitimate and believable problem with at&t. T-mobile depicted the fuzziness and glitches that those with at&t experience during facetime and make them look exactly like they do when an iphone messes up. I feel like even though t-mobile doesn't give specific product features of the mytouch, this commercial is successful by comparing their phone to the iphone face time feature.

Entry 20: TOMS shoes commercial

I really like this commercial because it tells the story of TOMS in a very hip way. It shows a very urban and interesting area and gives statistics about third world companies while the guy is walking through the train station. My only critique of this ad is that it may not catch the attention of someone just walking past the TV, because while it is shot very well, it's not at all showy or especially eye catching. Overall I think this ad successfully sells the shoes and tells consumers the TOMS message.

Entry 19: TOMS and At&t commercial

This ad was shown soon after the brand TOMS became popular. I liked this ad because it showed the at&t phone in use and its features while also showing and explaining the TOMS brand. This give the consumer a good image of at&t for supporting the philanthropic TOMS brand and also a good image of their quality of service.

Entry 18: Ellen Degeneres Model commercial

I really enjoyed this ad because I felt it really brought in Ellen's personality and combined it well with the Covergirl brand. I like the humor seen in this commercial because most make-up commercials aren't very funny, and this one uses humor to sell the product. Ellen turns around and pokes fun at models because obviously she's not the most stereotypical model.

Entry 17: Giselle Apple ad

I really like this ad because apple this time didn't only use the celebrity personality of Justin Long, but also of supermodel Giselle Bundchen. I found this ad very humorous and effectively showed how much of a better quality movie with a mac rather than a PC. This ad once again depicts as the mac as the more cool and hip choice rather than the fake and boring options for a PC.

Entry 16: Zooey Deschanel Cotton ad

I really love this ad because I'm a huge Zooey Deschanel fan. I love that they combined Zooey Deschanel's style so well with both the clothing and and the song. Viewers can see that this ad really reflects Deschanel as well as the cotton brand. Using different celebrity singers to sell the cotton brand appears to a variety of different people depending on their music interests, they will stop and watch the commercial. And even consumers who are not familiar with Deschanel still see the cotton brand in daily use.

Entry 15: Non-Smoking Print Ad

I think this ad's strength is its simplicity. It's a very simple picture, but speaks volumes about the dangers of cigarettes. This ad invokes the fear factor to those looking at this ad by showing so many tombstones in the "smoking area." I like that this ad doesn't use graphics or complicated images to show the effects of cigarettes.

Entry 14: Reality Cinema Ad

I found this ad very funny. I like that it uses a common movie reference and compares it to reality. This is an ad consumers can relate to by the common need to watch movies as an escape. This ad makes consumers feel good about the brand by speaking to them and understanding how they feel when they want to watch movies.

Entry 13: Print Ad effectiveness ad

I like this ad because it directly speaks to the consumer and is asking them to become involved with their company by taking action. This ad uses emotions to make consumers feel something for the ad designer trying to keep his job. I also like the honesty in this ad. It's very upfront about that it is trying to sell to the consumer and keep people in their jobs.

Entry 12: Beach Tweet Diet Pepsi Commercial

I like this ad because it uses the celebrity appearances in a very clever way. I like that it shows the product a few times throughout the ad, so that viewers don't have to watch the entire ad to know what it is advertising. While this ad is mostly an ad for Diet Pepsi, it is also an ad for twitter. It shows Sofia Vergara tweeting on her phone and clearly shows the Twitter logo and how many other people are reached by her tweet.

Entry 11: Piano Foundation for a Better Life Commercial

This is the Foundation for a Better Life's commercial about encouragement. I really like this ad because it shows a really good message of supporting young children in the arts. This is especially refreshing considering the competitive world we live in. I also like this ad because it shows a concert pianist of high stature welcoming the boy to show his accomplishments, even if it takes away from the attention he receives. This shows an unselfish motivation and very accurately shows the foundation's message.

Entry 10: Budweiser Military commericial

I really liked this ad because it give the consumer a very positive image of Budweiser, therefore successfully selling the brand rather than just the product. The split screen shows the brother in the military coming home and the brother at home making plans for his homecoming party. At the end of the commercial when the brothers meet, the screens also meet and combine into one. This shows the two brothers separate lives coming back together after having been apart for so long. This ad was made as a thank you to those in the military, which is supporting a good message, while also giving the consumer a good image of budweiser.

Entry 9: Kate Winslet American Express Ad

I really like this ad because it uses subtle references to Kate Winslet's movies in a very creative way. Those that are fans of Kate Winslet will understand all or most of them, and stop to watch the commercial when they recognize that she's in it, and have more of a connection to the American Express Brand. The problem with this commercial is that it doesn't appeal to those who don't understand the references and takes a long time to introduce the product.

Entry 8: Disney Parks Celebrity Ad

The Disney parks recently did a series of ad depicting celebrities in classic disney movie scenes. This ad features Scarlett Johnason as Cinderella, with the tag-line "Where every Cinderella story comes true." These ads are successful in making their customers feel nostalgic about the modern portrayal of classic disney scenes they grew up with and know well. Using recognizable celebrities of different types, such as movie stars, singers, and athletes, Disney reaches a variety of fan bases, while still advertising their company and disney parks.

Entry 7: The X Factor, Simon Cowell

The commercial features a whole bunch of broken pieces coming together to form Simon Cowell and saying the phrase "he's back," and showing the title on the screen . While this does raise curiosity about the show considering it gives no plot for the show whatsoever, it only appeals to American Idol fans. People who were not formerly a fan of his probably won't google the show to find out what it's about and tune in to watch it.

Entry 6: Chevy Cruze/Facebook Feature

The commercial shows a girl and a boy kissing at the end of a date. It then shows the boy getting into his chevy, pushing a button on his rearview mirror and speaking into the mirror to update his Facebook status about the date. Chevy's tagline states "some news just can't wait." This ad is an ad for this new feature on the cruze and an ad for Facebook. This ad plays on viewers emotions of being excited after meeting someone new, and how you want to tell it to everyone. Even if someone didn't remember which specific car this ad was for, tehy might look it up to see this commercial again, making it more successful.

Entry 5: Volkswagon Vader Passat Commerical

In the VW passat commercial , the main selling point of this ad is that it allows yuo to start your car from the outside. The commercial shows a little boy dressed up in a Darth Vader costume and trying to make different things move without touchign them. The boy runs outside, holds his hands out in front of the car, and his dad pusehd s the start button. The boy is amazed. This commerical uses humor and sentimentality to show an interesting new feature on the passat. By using such a common and familiar character as Darth Vader, along with the Star Wars theme music, VW catches viewers attention and makes them keep watching.

Entry 4: Yoplait Splitz Commercial

The yoplait splitz commercial features a little boy opening a yogurt lid and hearing the ice-cream truck noise. After he beings eating the yogurt, the rest of the children hear the noise and starts chasing him, like they would to an ice-cream truck.  This ad appealed to me because it made me nostalgic about my childhood and chasing after the ice-cream truck. This ad stuck in my mind, so when I went tot he store, I looked to see what kind of flavors yoplait had in stock.

Entry 3: Taylor Swift Covergirl Ad

This ad focuses on covergirl's message of their 50 year anniversary, and it's a brand that appeals to younger and older women. The main message of this ad is to sell the Covergirl brand as an estabished brand that has products for all ages. I think this ad could be more effective if it featured 2 women from different generations, instead of only featuring one from a younger generation. Taylor Swift mostly just appeals to pre-teens and teenagers and Covergirl could reach a broader audience by featuring a middle-aged woman as well.

Entry 2: At&t Flower Commerical

The At&t flower commercial shows orange flowers growing all over a large city . I like this commercial because it sells At&t 's services in a beautiful and creative way. At the end of the commercial after the whole city is covered in orange flowers, the ling "coverage is a beautiful thing" appear on the screen. Because the commercial uses At&t's signature orange, it helps watchers to remember the company the commercial is for, while leaving watchers feeling good about the company.

Entry 1: Google Search Ad

When I found this ad I immediately liked it because I felt it really got Google’s message across without an extravagant production. This ad is simple, and tells a story simply from what the man is typing into the Google search engine. This ad conveys how the Google search engine can be used as a tool for helping plan out a life and a resource that may change the way a situation turns out, based on what the first websites that appear.  For instance, had a different study abroad program come up on the first search that better suited the man typing, he may never have met his future wife. My criticism of this ad is that it requires you to watch the ad all the way through to receive the message clearly. This ad also may not just catch your attention if you are just passing through the room. Some may say that the simplicity of this ad makes it not as successful, but I feel it does succeed because after you watch it you know what the ad was for.
